This Chicken Pot Pie is so delicious! You can make your own pie crust by following the link at the bottom or you can buy frozen pie crusts. I like to make my own, but they both taste fine. Also, my mother suggests to put foil on the top, but I don't usually do that (mostly because I'm lazy) and it turns out fine.
Chicken Pot Pie
Makes one 9” pot pie
2 Marie Callendar’s pie crusts – let 1 defrost while you
prepare filling
Filling
4 tbls
chopped onion
4 tbls
butter or margarine
4 tbls flour
2 tsp
chicken bouillon granules (if I only have cubes, I break them up)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground
sage
Dash of
pepper
1 1/3 cup milk
1 cup water
1 cup
chicken
1 cup frozen
vegetables (I get the kind with NO LIMA BEANS) cooked and drained
2 potatoes
peeled, cubed and cooked until tender, then drained
Heat oven to
400 degrees. Cook onion in butter or
margarine until tender but not brown.
Blend in flour, chicken bouillon, salt, sage and pepper. Add milk and water. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Stir in chicken and all vegetables. Pour into frozen pie crust. Top ever-so-carefully with the defrosted
crust and pinch edges together. Cover with foil that has a hole cut in the top,
so the edges are protected. Bake for about 50 minutes or until crust is golden
brown.

Tonight Ben and I had homemade/personalized milk shakes. I believe my sister Kelsey may have started this dessert in our home, but I could be mistaken. Basically, you take a cup or mug, scoop some vanilla ice cream, pour in a little milk, and add your favorite mix-ins. Super simple! Whenever Ben gets a milkshake he gets the candy kind, for example, Reese's, Snickers, etc. That is totally not my thing, I don't like that the chocolate on the candy gets a little frozen and hard to chew. Within the past 2 weeks, I had Ben try an Oreo milkshake and he loved it (of course)! Oreo milkshakes are simply the best. Making personalized milk shakes is a fun thing for groups to do because everyone can make their own thing and it's a nice variation of a ice cream sundaes. I never measure how much milk I add, but usually about 1/4 of the amount of ice cream I put in. Once you pour the milk in with your ice cream, add your desired mix-ins and then you mash it all together with a spoon. It's easiest if your ice cream has sat out to thaw for a little bit. It's also nice because you don't get a blender dirty or make so much that you feel "obligated" to finish everything. Here is a picture of our Oreo milkshakes from tonight. Hope you enjoy looking at our delicious treat and feel inspired to go make your own!

My mother makes delicious homemade pizza and uses this dough recipe. The only thing I would do differently (which I think she does as well) is to add 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder and 1 teaspoon of Italian Seasonings. Super yummy! Make sure you preheat your oven to about 400 degrees and then bake the pizza for about 15 minutes, I believe (all my notes on this recipe are still packed in the car). Use whatever toppings, sauce, or cheeses that you like. We love using Alfredo sauce, shredded chicken, green onions, diced tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese to imitate Papa Murphy's Gourmet Garlic Chicken Pizza. This is the link for the pizza dough if you want to get the printable version.
ENJOY!
INGREDIENTS
1 ½ cup warm Water
1 ½ Tablespoon Dry Yeast (2- ¼ ounce packages of dry yeast)
1 teaspoon Sugar
4 cups All Purpose Flour
1 ½ teaspoons Salt
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
| Sicilian Style Pizza DoughImpasto alla Siciliana
Stir together the water, yeast and the sugar. Let rest until the yeast blooms, about 5 minutes.
Place 3 cups of the flour and the salt in a mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture and the olive oil and stir together to form a sticky dough. Knead, adding the remaining flour a little at a time until the dough becomes a smooth, elastic ball, about 5-8 minutes. If you prefer to use an electric mixer, combine the ingredients with the paddle attachment and then change to the dough hook. Add the flour a little at a time until the dough is smooth and comes away from the sides of the bowl, about 2-4 minutes. Turn the dough into a lightly greased bowl and cover with a dry towel or plastic wrap. Let rise for 30 minutes in a draft free spot to double in bulk.

As mentioned in my post "Wenzel Family Favorites" here is a picture of the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Brownies and the recipe. I'm not sure where I got the recipe from, otherwise I would definitely give credit.
What you'll need:
2 boxes of brownie mix (and the ingredients to make these brownies)
2 bags of regular sized Reese's PB Cups
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to temperature on brownie box
2. Make brownie mix as directed on box
3. Pour half of the brownie batter in a 9x13 pan
4. Layer the Reese's PB Cups as shown in the picture. You should use 24 total.
5. Pour the rest of the brownie batter in the pan
6. Crush the remaining Reese's PB Cups and sprinkle on top of it all
7. Put in the oven and bake!
We prefer them once they are fully cooled but they are delicious no matter what!
Enjoy!

Today's recipe comes from Our Best Bites and is called BBQ Bacon Sliders. It happens to be one of Ben's favorite dinners and I can't blame him. Nothing better than bacon, beef, and a little blue cheese sauce. Instead of posting the whole recipe, just click this link to go to their website. We substitute the crispy onions for fresh purple onions, but that's the only change I would recommend. Thanks to my great sister for finding this recipe! Below are some pictures of ours last night.
For dessert tonight, we made Cake Batter Cupcakes, using Your Cup of Cake's recipe. Your Cup of Cake transforms regular box cakes into sophisticated cupcakes by adding things like sour cream, buttermilk, extra eggs, etc. Click here for the Cake Batter Cupcake recipe! These are the ones that we made last night. Amy did the amazing frosting job!

Banana Crumb Muffins
First off, I apologize for not having a picture of the muffins. I was reminiscing about these muffins (and thinking about the bananas in our freezer) and decided that this would be a perfect recipe to post! I doubled the recipe the first time I made it because we had so many brown bananas, and it was definitely worth it. Ben and I LOVED these muffins (read: ate 4 in one sitting). I got this recipe from All Recipes so all praises can go to them! Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup white sugar
|
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
|
DIRECTIONS:
| 1. | Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers. |
| 2. | In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups. |
| 3. | In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins. |
| 4. | Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean. |

Chicken Caesar Bow Tie Pasta Salad
-romaine lettuce
-bow tie pasta
-caesar dressing (Cardini's is our favorite!)
-croutons (Texas Toast Garlic and Cheese is our favorite!)
-parmesan cheese
We used 1 large head of romaine lettuce, 2 cups of bow tie pasta, and caesar dressing, croutons, and parmesan cheese according to our preferences. This made more than enough for 2 people, so we shared the rest with our neighbors! It was a hit, enjoy!
oh my gosh! I make a chinese salad just like this but instead of caesar dressing its an asian dressing (with rice vinegar, soy sauce, sunflower oil, etc) and it is delicious!
